Are you interested in caring for children in your home? Are you able to provide that care in a safe and nurturing environment? Become certified by the county in which you live.

There are two levels of certification to choose from:

Provisional Certification: (the simplest form of regulation) is usually granted to individuals who care for children who are related to them. No formal training is required. An initial site visit is made to establish basic health and safety requirements. Other requirements include:

Regular Certification: requires the provider to meet all standards for Provisional certification, plus:

• 15-20 hours of approved training in child care and development
• May care for no more than 3 children under the age of 7 and three children over the age of 7 years.
