Introduction to the Child Care Profession

 

1 CREDIT COURSE

This course replaces the current Family Day Care Licensing 40 hour course and Early Childhood 1 course.

This is the first course for both group and family child care providers. This course provides entry level knowledge and skills for individuals as they begin to care for children in group or family child care.

Fundamentals of Family Child Care

 

NON-CREDIT COURSE

This course will meet the requirements of DWD 55 for training in business practices for 'regular' certified and licensed family child care providers.

This course is required for all certified and licensed family child care providers-you may take both Introduction to the Child Care Profession and Fundamentals of Family Child Care during the same semester.

This course provides essential information about establishing a family child care business that is in accordance with Wisconsin's State Law. This course includes the business aspects of family child care and professionalism.

Dates & Time: Wednesdays, June 4 - 25; 6-9pm or Wednesdays, October 1 - 22, 2008; 6-9pm
Course fee: $100.00 (Includes textbook and CD)


Fundamentals of Infant and Toddler Care

 

1 CREDIT COURSE

This course applies to family and group providers who care for infants and toddlers and replaces the Infant/Toddler course.

This course provides requirements and practices for entry level child care providers who work with infants and toddlers.

Topics include:

Date: September 9 thru November 25, 2008
Time: 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Course fee: $225.00 (Includes textbook & materials)

Skills & Strategies for the Child Care Teacher

 

1 CREDIT COURSE

This course applies to teachers in licensed group centers and replaces the Early Childhood 2 course.

Course Prerequisite: Introduction to the Child Care Profession (or equivalent)

This course focuses on skills and strategies for the child care teacher with emphasis on selecting developmentally appropriate activities, planning lessons, and facilitating children's activities.

Date: September 8 thru December 8, 2008
Time: 6:00-9:00 p.m.
Course fee: $250.00 (Includes textbook & materials)

 

The 1 Credit Courses will count as an elective in the Early Childhood Associate Degree Program at Fox Valley Technical College, Appleton WI

T.E.A.C.H. Scholarships Information

You may be eligible for a T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Wisconsin Scholarship if you:

  • Are employed at least 25 hours per week in a full time program
  • Have support of your sponsoring program
  • Have a high school diploma or GED

All textbooks and materials will be distributed at the first class

Courses are offered on a first come-first served basis with a limit of 25 participants.

Refunds will ONLY be made if student withdraws from class 14 days before class start date
OR if class is cancelled by CCRR. There is a $10 processing fee if student withdraws from class.
