Available Training Sessions:

Let's Play This session will have a new twist as we come together and experience self active play using recycled materials. By experiencing self active play you will learn the importance of allowing children time to discover, explore, and investigate in their own unique way.

Mine Doesn't Look Like That! Process vs. Product Art For the art to be art, it must represent children's original thinking. When children copy or complete teacher-conceived projects, they are imitating art, not creating it! As early childhood teachers, our goal is to offer children many opportunities to create art in their own way, allowing children to direct both the process and the product of their art. This workshop will discuss why the process of art is more important than the final product and will give participants many creative ideas for using hands-on materials to make art a fun and fascinating process for children.

Reading Between the Lines: Using Portfolios to Document Children's Progress Portfolios are a tool to provide teachers with documentation of a child's growth and development. Learn how to capture a visual account of each child's individuality.

What is the ITERS and the ECERS? How do you rate? ITERS (Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale) and ECERS (Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale) were designed for classroom self-assessment and monitoring of quality in Early Childhood programs and are exceptional instrument for early childhood educators to measure the quality of their early childhood programs. This workshop gives an overview of ITERS/ECERS, explanation of the 7-point rating scale and "hands-on" exercises using the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale.

Making Musical Moments Did you know that music and movement is a critical part of a quality early childhood program? Brain research suggests that music and movement is highly beneficial to all children, regardless of age. This workshop provides caregivers with curriculum ideas and the fundamental key elements of starting children on a fun musical adventure. Be prepared to "move to the music!" Choose either an Infant/Toddler or Preschool session. A combined session is also available upon request.

That's How the Story Grows....Using Simple Stories to Build Literacy in Young Children Literacy begins with listening and speaking, and these lead to reading and writing! Children of all ages can look at, listen to, and learn to love books! Reading out loud, even the same book over and over, is one of the best ways to help develop language. This workshop will teach you how to jazz up any book with a few creative ideas!

Setting the Stage: Literacy Strategies for Your Classroom Foster literacy throughout your classroom. This workshop will provide concrete examples of ways to add language and literacy experiences through play to every area of your classroom, even outdoors!

What Do You Do With the Mad That You Feel? Helping Children Manage Anger Children aren't born with self-control. They learn it gradually as they grow from infants to preschoolers...and beyond. This workshop will help participants understand that children need to learn control and find healthy outlets for angry feelings. It will provide you with activities that help children understand their anger, and helpful ways to intervene when anger or frustration overwhelms them.

Communication or Alienation: Parent Partnerships Child care providers will benefit from this workshop intended to aid them in relationships and communication with parents. Participants will receive many helpful handouts to assist them in their communications with the families they serve. Topics include: initial, written and daily communication; ways to keep communication lines open all year long; difficult communication and how to overcome fears of discussing difficult situations with parents.

Trading Spaces With Smiling Faces Transition times of the day can be very stressful. Keep your sanity! Learn teacher-tested transitions that will give you concrete ways to change those stressful times into magical teaching moments.

FISH! Catch the Energy and Release the Potential Would you like your workplace to be filled with energy and passion? Come learn about FISH Philosophy! No, this isn't your usual fish story - it's an energetic program that will help you bring the joy of living to the places where we make a living.

Aint' Misbehavin' Understanding Misbehavior Children's behavior has meaning. Teachers who are more successful with discipline are able to read the messages in children's behavior. This workshop will guide teachers to intervention strategies that support children and help reduce difficult behaviors.
